It feels like it's never going to get warmer here in St. Louis, but that doesn't mean we aren't already planning for summer fun. That's why we're excited about a unique summer program for children with special needs being offered by our very own St. Louis Zoo!

chance to discover the animal kingdom through live animal demonstrations, animal artifacts, activities and more. Explore the colors and sounds nature has to offer during this wonderful hour and a half program designed especially for children with developmental disabilities that can tolerate working within a group learning setting.

Online registration for the program begins Monday, March 3rd, at the St. Louis Zoo website. There is a fee of $29 per child or $26 for Zoo Members. Please note that these fees are ONLY for the participating child. There is no charge for the accompanying caregiver.

While this program is limited to only twelve children, the St. Louis Zoo offers lots of exciting special needs outreach programs for groups ranging in size of 8 to 16 children all year round. Even if you don't live in St. Louis, there's a good chance your local zoo offers similar opportunities that are well worth exploring this summer. If you know of a program you want to tell others about, feel free to let us know about it in the comments or share it on our Facebook page!
