How Far Is ...?
Using the arranged number line, ask children to look for numbers that are 2 spaces apart. First, measure the distance between the dots for the numerals "0" and "2." Have children look at the spaces between the red dots on the number line, just like using a ruler. Than, hold up the corresponding yellow arrow and say: "This must stands for 2.") Use the arrow to find other pairs of numbers that are the same distance apart. During follow-up lessons, users may identify numbers that are 3, 4, or 5 spaces apart and use the arrows to prove their work.
